This evening we were notified of an air quality statement issued for the eastern region of our school district. Air quality is forecasted to deteriorate over the next few days in some areas of our board.
School principals will monitor the air quality in their areas and take the appropriate steps regarding outdoor activities, according to the public health guidelines.
This means, if the air quality index is 7 or higher, outdoor school activities and outdoor field trips may be cancelled.
Air quality will be monitored using the Ontario Air Quality Health Index. Health messages and guidelines for each level of the index can be found at the bottom of the Ontario Air Quality Health Index page.
