Dates of Significance

Dates of Significance

At the Upper Canada District School Board, we are committed to fostering inclusive, respectful, and welcoming learning and working environments for all students and staff.

These Dates of Significance (a combination of Special Recognition Days and Significant Faith Days) highlight community, cultural, heritage, and workplace observances that are meaningful to staff and members of our school communities. Recognizing and acknowledging these dates helps us build understanding, celebrate diversity, and support equitable practices across our schools.

2025 - 2026 Significant Faith Days:

Special Recognition Days

In accordance with Special Recognition Days policy 455, the UCDSB acknowledges and/or promotes special recognition days that meet two or more of the following criteria:

  • The special day or event has a demonstrable educational value (such as "teachable moments" that can be incorporated in the curriculum before, during, and after the event):

  • The special day or event has a clear connection to the board's mission, values, strategic plan; or

  • The special day or event is understood to promote the general benefit of the community.
Given the increasing number of special recognition days being created by a wide variety of organizations, schools and departments may choose to recognize these days, or other days not included on this list, that have special importance within the school or department.
