Research Surveys
The Research Department develops, implements, and manages a variety of surveys each school year across the Upper Canada District School Board. These surveys focus on enhancing student learning and achievement, equity and inclusion, and informing human resource practices.

Survey Background
As part of the Upper Canada District School Board’s (UCDSB) continuing efforts to promote a positive school environment, we have developed the Amplify Survey. This
work aligns with the Director’s Work Plan under Student Culture where
we continue working to enhance student mental and physical health, and
sense of belonging. The initiative also connects to the UCDSB Student Achievement Plan (SAP) under Amplify: We Asked / You Said / We're Doing and Student Voice. The survey findings will be used to support schools in completing the new Student Improvement Plan (SIP) and to develop an action plan around a mental health and wellness goal and an equity goal.
Under
the Safe Schools initiative, every public school board in Ontario is
required to collect school climate data for students, parents/guardians,
and staff.
Amplify is a twice-annual school climate survey (administered in October & March) that will be used to support data driven, student-assisted Equity and Mental Health & Wellness plans in all schools. Students in Grades 4-12 will be invited to participate in a short (28 questions) anonymous survey administered in-class. The survey link will be sent to student email accounts.
The survey asks questions about:
- Belonging
- School Safety
- Bullying
- Student Engagement
- Real-World Learning
- Mental Health and Well-Being
- Extra-Curricular Activities and Sports.
