Mental Health & Social-Emotional Learning Resources For Parents/Guardians & Other Caring Adults
The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) aims to foster a mentally healthy environment for students to learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential. This of course is not limited to the school day. The UCDSB has a variety of supports, initiatives, and resources available for families.
We all have mental health!
Parents, guardians, and other caring adults have a critical role in supporting the mental health of children and youth. It is important to learn about mental health and develop the skills that can help you to support the children and youth in your life. This support will help children and youth to feel connected and better able to navigate life’s challenges.
Despite our best efforts, children and youth will struggle with mental health. Knowing the signs of distress and how to help can make all the difference in a young person’s life. Remember! Simply being there to listen and validate difficult feelings in a non-judgmental way is the best way to build connections and provide meaningful support.
