WPS Popcorn Donation

November 2, 2022 (Williamstown, ON) – A recent generous community donation of personal bags of popcorn to Williamstown Public School (WPS) sparked an initiative to fundraise for the Upper Canada District School Board  Champions for Kids  Foundation (C4K).

The school received more than 400 bags of popcorn and thought it would be a good opportunity to raise some funds for the C4K Foundation, the school board’s charity that supports students across the district. So, the school planned a popcorn day on Friday, October 28. Some classes even watched movies and dressed in their PJs. Families were encouraged to send in a loonie or toonie donation for the popcorn, however all students received a bag, donation or not.

Annie Laurie Leger’s Grade 5/6 class took the lead on sorting and distributing the popcorn to the students and collecting donations.

“We wanted to do something that directly benefits students, here in Williamstown and all over the UCDSB,” says WPS Principal Adele Perry. “So, C4K was the perfect place to send the money that we collected.”

A total of $478.90 was raised for the C4K Foundation. The C4K Foundation has collected and distributed more than $2.2 million to UCDSB students in need since its inception in 2008.
