IN THE NEWS: Athens Students Step up in Heels for 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' Fundraiser
Students from Athens District High School (ADHS) spoke with the Brockvilleist about their ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ fundraiser, raising awareness about domestic violence and supporting Leeds and Grenville Interval House. As part of the event, male students walked in high heels to gain perspective and show solidarity with survivors and those affected.
The initiative was spearheaded by two ADHS students who say they have known people impacted by domestic violence.
“We are students, we are growing up, we are getting into relationships, we’re going into the workplace, and this is something that is just so important for us to do.”
