April 1, 2026 (Gananoque, ON) – Gananoque Secondary School (GSS) welcomed teams from across Eastern Ontario on March 31 for the third annual OFSAA Regional Cheerleading Event, a day celebrating school spirit, teamwork and performance.
Four Upper Canada District School Board schools participated in the event: GSS, Brockville Collegiate Institute, Russell High School and Chimo Elementary School.
The competition is part of OFSAA’s Regional Events program, launched during the 2022–23 school year to expand opportunities for student participation in school-based activities. The program emphasizes student leadership and inclusivity, introducing activities that are gaining popularity across regions, with a philosophy that prioritizes participation over competition.
The top three teams from all regional competitions will advance to the first official provincial championship sanctioned by OFSAA, the Trillium Cup Cheer & Dance 2026 in Welland, Ont. on April 15.
