CUPE Labour Update #4 – Strike Friday, Schools Closed
Posted on 11/03/2022

Dear UCDSB Parents and Guardians,

The provincial government and The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) have not yet reached a deal and CUPE has confirmed that they will be on strike tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 4. As such, UCDSB schools will be closed on Friday, Nov. 4.

School boards across the province have been directed by the Ministry of Education to ensure students have a speedy transition to online learning. Teachers have provided work for students to work on tomorrow, independently.

We will begin online learning on Monday, Nov. 7, if needed. Teachers will provide more information to families/students about that, as needed.

CUPE represents custodial/maintenance staff, school office and clerical staff, educational assistants, early childhood educators, library workers, and information technology staff. We are not able to safely operate our schools without this group of employees.

We will update families over the weekend regarding the status of school for Monday, Nov. 7.

Thank you,   Upper Canada District School Board
