CUPE Labour Updates to Families - Nov.17
Posted on 11/17/2022
Dear UCDSB Parents and Guardians,

At this time, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the provincial government have not reached a deal. CUPE still intends to proceed with a full withdrawal of services (strike) on Monday, Nov. 21 if a deal is not reached before then.

If a strike occurs, schools will be closed to students on Monday, Nov. 21, and classes will move to digital remote learning using their usual online classroom platform. Starting Monday, teachers will provide synchronous (online, real-time) learning.

Additional details and resources for students with special education needs will be shared with families by their child’s teacher.

If you have concerns about your child being able to access online learning, please contact your teacher or principal directly.

If you use a daycare provider that operates out of our schools, please contact them directly to see if your service will be impacted.

Negotiations between CUPE and the province are ongoing, and we hope that an agreement will be reached prior to Monday. We will update families on Sunday evening to confirm the open/close status of our schools for Monday, or before if we have updated information.

Thank you, Upper Canada District School Board
