Roxanne Harrington is a Registered Early Childhood Educator at South Branch Elementary School who consistently goes above and beyond for her students and families.
Roxanne makes the effort to connect with South Branch Elementary School parents and makes them feel included in their child’s learning. She welcomes parent involvement and took on the duty of organizing and completing the book orders for at least two classrooms. When COVID-19 struck, she hand-delivered students’ books to their home on her own time when they couldn’t come to the school; socially distanced, of course. That effort shows her passion for ensuring every child is taken care of and supported in any situation.
Roxanne takes the time to acknowledge her students’ questions and input no matter how busy she is. She provides a gentle support for her students during these trying times and makes the children feel safe and comfortable. She has a great sense of humour and can take a kindergartner’s tricky conversation and turn it into a teachable moment.
Parents say that Roxanne is a loving, caring and devoted part of their child’s teaching team. They are thankful to have her in their children’s lives and grateful for all that she does.
For Roxanne’s passion to nurture and support each child’s learning experience, the Upper Canada District School Board is honoured to name her a Director’s Award of Merit recipient.
