Directors Award of Merit Dominique Bertrand

Dominique Bertrand exemplifies leadership, dedication and maintains important connections with her school’s families in her role as principal of Cambridge Public School in Embrun.

During the provincially mandated school closures in March 2020, many parents contacted her with questions and concerns, and Dominique was incredible at getting back to them in a timely manner. She was able to put their minds at ease during those very uncertain times, ensuring parents that the school would support them and their students in any way they could.

Prior to returning to school in September, Dominique was in regular contact and transparent with her families about the return-to-school process. On the first day of school she was front and centre, leading her staff in making sure everything went smoothly and everyone was safe, happy and healthy.

Dominique takes pride in keeping Cambridge Public School a safe learning environment and has stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure staff and students follow safety practices while still making it a welcome and caring place to be.

In addition, Dominique is dedicated, driven and involved in the school  and the community. She can always be found behind the scenes at every school activity or fundraiser.

For her commitment to students, education and community, the Upper Canada District School Board is proud to honour Dominique with a Director’s Award of Merit.
