Jennifer Moore’s dedication to her staff, students, families, and the Front of Yonge Elementary School community is a testimony to her commitment to the UCDSB’s Vision, “Creating Futures, Leading and Learning for All”.
When staff walk into the school, it’s clear that each person feels they are stepping into a community as Jennifer has fostered such a welcoming atmosphere by creating meaningful connections with staff, students, and their families.
Jennifer is passionate about education. With a Special Education background, she is constantly working behind the scenes with a variety of support partners to provide students with the services they need in order to be successful learners. She sees potential in all students and advocates for every child’s right to a quality education. She has an incredible ability to provide students with access to experiences they might not have had the opportunity to participate in otherwise.
The Front of Yonge Elementary School community has faced a great deal of challenges this year, but Jennifer’s superpowers have kicked into high gear. Multiple families have been struggling due to the side effects of the pandemic and Jennifer, with community support, organized Christmas dinner baskets for 15 families.
When a student suffered the sudden loss of their mother, within days, the school community was on that family’s doorstep with food, gift cards and a care package.
Finally, Jennifer’s commitment to her staff is noteworthy. She consistently encourages her staff to look for opportunities to be the best educators they can. As they prepared for the school year in September, Jennifer encouraged her staff to reflect on their ‘why’ behind being an educator. She gave them the supportive tools and mindset for teaching and leading during a pandemic.
Jennifer’s commitment to the UCDSB Mission to “Prepare All Students for a Successful Life,” is why the Upper Canada District School Board is thrilled to recognize her with a Director’s Award of Merit.
