Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grants

PRO Grants support schools and school councils in their efforts to remove barriers that prevent parents from engaging fully in their children’s learning and educational experience.  

2024-2025 Information:
A total of $49,000 is available to support PRO Grant projects.  With the support of principals, school councils are encouraged to develop proposals individually, with other school councils, and/or with community partners.  Examples of PRO Grant projects from the 2023-2024 school year include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing targeted resources to meet specific parent needs (e.g., parent curriculum workshops)
  • Literacy & Mathematic supports for parents to help their child(ren) (e.g., Family Literacy Night, Science of Reading, Home Reading Connection, Right to Read, Family Mathematics Evening,

    Numeracy Night, EQAO Math Scavenger Hunt, etc

  • STEM supports for parents to help their child(ren)
  • Online learning and safety (e.g., cyber-literacy, social media awareness)
  • Food security (e.g., community gardens)
  • Anti-Black racism, anti-Indigenous, and anti-oppression initiatives (Recognizing and Unlearning Bias)
  • Parent/caregiver engagement supports
  • Physical and mental health and wellbeing initiatives (Yoga Family Fitness, Physical and Mental Health presentation, Vaping Prevention Programs)
  • Awareness building by offering culturally responsive experiences (Multicultural Food Festival)

Applications are due by December 6, 2024.  Applications have been forwarded to Principals and School Chairs.
