
May 13, 2026 (Brockville, ON) – Students from across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) competed at the annual Skills Ontario Competition in Toronto on May 4-5, 2026. A total of 50 students competed in individual and team events, with UCDSB schools earning four medals overall. Students from Carleton Place High School, Glengarry District High School, Rideau District High School and Tagwi Secondary School all brought home honours in a variety of competition categories.
The Skills Ontario Competition brings together some of the province’s top technology and skilled trades students to compete in hands-on, industry-focused challenges. Qualifying for the provincial event is a major accomplishment, with students advancing through multiple levels of competition for the chance to earn medals, scholarships, employment opportunities and spots at national and international competitions.
Students qualified for the Toronto event by medaling in local and regional competitions earlier this spring.
Day one of the competition saw 26 UCDSB intermediate students compete in Construction, Green Industries, LEGO Robotics, Technology Design, TV/Video Production and VEX Robotics.
On the second day, 24 UCDSB secondary students showed off their talents in Auto Collision, Carpentry, Culinary Arts, Floristry, Photography and more.
UCDSB schools represented included Brockville Collegiate Institute, Carleton Place High School, Char-Lan District High School, Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School, Glengarry District High School, North Dundas District High School, Perth and District Collegiate Institute, Pleasants Corners Public School, Rideau District High School, Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute, Tagwi Secondary School, Thousand Islands Secondary School
