May 8, 2026 (Brockville, ON) – Students across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) are getting hands-on experience in the skilled trades thanks to the return of the St. Lawrence College (SLC) Mobile Training Lab.
The travelling classroom is visiting 12 schools across the district this spring, giving Grade 7 and 8 students an opportunity to explore careers in design, construction, and the skilled trades through interactive project builds.
Equipped with tools, materials, and expert instruction, the mobile lab brings hands-on, experiential learning directly to schools. Schools can choose from eight different project builds designed to introduce foundational skills while encouraging teamwork and problem-solving.
The initiative, funded through the Ontario Youth Apprentice Program, helps expose students to a variety of future pathways in the trades and supports ongoing efforts to promote experiential learning opportunities across the UCDSB.
