Kemptville Mayor Visit

April 3, 2025 (Kemptville, ON) - Robert Lachance's Grade 5 class at Kemptville Public School had an exciting and informative visit on Thursday, April 3 from North Grenville Mayor, Nancy Peckford, as part of their social studies unit on government.

The students have been learning about the different levels of government—municipal, provincial, and federal—exploring their responsibilities and how they collaborate to improve communities across Canada. Mayor Peckford, accompanied by Bruce Enloe, her Executive Administrative Assistant and Tammy Hurlbert, the Municipal Manager of Community and Leisure Services spent over an hour talking with students about Kemptville’s current and future projects, including: the plans for road expansions, construction projects, and potential transportation and recreation options for the region.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of how municipal government functions and the challenges of managing a growing town.

This visit was a valuable learning experience, bringing classroom lessons to life and inspiring young minds to take an interest in civic leadership and community development.
