Director's Message to Students and Families

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

It’s been incredible to welcome students back to the classroom, witness outdoor experiential learning opportunities, re-start extra-curricular activities and help students back into regular routines over the last month. The school year is going well, and before we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, I want to provide you with a couple of updates from our school board.

You may have heard in the news that the Ontario government is going to make voluntary rapid antigen testing available to students who attend school in person. This provincial program will be run through our public health partners. At this time, we do not have specific details about the program. When we do, either your school, the school board or your public health unit will be in touch.

Also, I want to make you aware of the various special days that our school board will recognize this month. One of those days is Dress Purple Day on Wednesday, Oct. 27. October is Child Abuse Prevention Month and on October 27, we wear purple to show others that we are here to help and acknowledge the important role that individuals and communities play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families.

You can learn more about our other Special Recognition Days here.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude for your sustained support this school year. Please continue with daily COVID-19 screening using the provincial school screening tool and ensure students are symptom free before heading to school. This continued commitment to health and safety measures is essential to keeping everyone safe.

I wish you well this long weekend and hope you get the opportunity to reflect on all that you’re thankful for and get to spend some time with family and friends.
