Service Excellence Award - Louise Mulder

Louise Mulder is an award recipient for living out all six qualities of Service Excellence in her role as a Special Services Counsellor.

Culture of Care

When it comes to supporting her students, Louise listens, provides parents with support, and offers resources that connect to each student's needs.

Individualized Care

Louise always checks in with her students' progress and will even attend special meetings with medical experts to help support safety planning. She makes her students feel seen and heard and the parents feel supported and guided in stressful times.

Above and Beyond

Louise has gone above and beyond with every student she serves. For instance, she once registered herself for an online training seminar on youth experiencing somatic symptoms to best support one of her students.

Recognized and Valued

Louise makes her families feel validated in their experiences. Louise helps to build her students' mental health support system, and gives the parents direction when they feel adrift. Once a plan is set in place, she continues to be actively invested.

Collaboration and Communication

Louise has collaborated and communicated with medical professionals, teachers and support services to ensure each student gets the proper support. She is an advocate for her students and their families.

Action Start to Finish

Her compassion, her regular check-ins, her referrals and her investment in establishing a strong relationship has provided her families with a strong foundation throughout their journey. Louise never waivers from her dedication to students and their well-being.

For her compassion and commitment to her students' well-being, the Upper Canada District School Board is proud to honour Louise with a Service Excellence Award.
