Preparing for All Learning Scenarios
Preparing for All Learning Scenarios in the New Year
Posted on 12/18/2020

On December 16, the Ministry of Education provided school boards across the province with notice to encourage staff and students to take home anything they may need for distance learning before the winter break to ensure staff and students are prepared for any possible learning scenario in January.

The Upper Canada District School Board has been proactive in preparing for any possible learning scenario for the 2020-2021 school year. We put a plan in place in September and are ready to move to distance learning should we be directed to so by the Ministry of Education or our public health officials.

At this time, there is no direction to close schools or move to distance learning after the holiday break. However, we have asked staff to remind students to bring home any of their personal belongings to minimize the number of personal items that are left at school.

Over the winter break, should there be an update from the Ministry of Education or our public health officials that would impact how we are currently operating we will share that information directly with you via email, on the UCDSB website and social media (Twitter: @UCDSB, Facebook: and Instagram: @uppercanadadsb ). If you do not have a My Family Room account, we encourage you to sign up, as the email provided will be how the school board will communicate with your directly.

We recognize that these are challenging times as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to climb across our province. This
holiday season is going to feel very different for each of us as we continue to take care of others and our own health as the pandemic continues. We ask that staff, students and families please continue to follow the advice of public health to help ensure that we can welcome students back to in-person learning in January.
