Rebecca MacLeodRebecca MacLeod always has the best interests of her learners at the top of her mind. She works with each learner to make sure the TR Leger program is the right fit and that they are taking all the appropriate courses. She becomes their teacher, confidante and most importantly, their friend. She is invested in each of her students’ lives and celebrates milestones with them, no matter the size.

Her caring demeanor was evident when she turned a student’s school life around. This student went from hating school to wanting to do better and successfully completing all credits to earn their high school diploma. When another former student came to her needing assistance, Rebecca acted quickly and helped them on her own personal time.

Organization is very important in Rebecca’s role, as is being able to multi-task and knowing which questions to ask. This becomes especially clear during registration time. Rebecca is hands on with her work and collaborates with the administration team at Glengarry District High School to ensure smooth transitions for her students. She also works well with all of her coworkers.

This year, Rebecca went above and beyond her duties as a Teacher and wore multiple hats throughout the day. She took on additional Vice-Principal and IT responsibilities when needed and handled challenges that came her way with dignity and class.

For her determination to see her students succeed and willingness to take on additional roles, the Upper Canada District School Board is proud to honour Rebecca with a Director’s Award of Merit.
