Williamstown Public School Funding Announcement

July 27, 2020 (Williamstown, ON) – The Upper Canada District School Board is proud to share that it has received approval and funding from the Ministry of Education for the expansion at Williamstown Public School, in Williamstown.

The $2.9 million project will be an addition of five new classrooms, including a new Kindergarten room. The expansion will result in 121 new pupil space to school building.

This project is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces. This project will now move into the design phase.

“We are very pleased that this capital project has now received funding. It’s a project we’ve been looking forward to for some time. This is an excellent economic investment in the community and a significant commitment to public education. This project will enhance the quality of learning and teaching at Williamstown Public School, said Chair John McAllister.

“The funding for this addition to the Williamstown Public School is great news for our community,” said Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. “This investment will provide a quality learning environment and new opportunities for the children of South Glengarry.”

“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of the addition to the Williamstown Public School further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”

The school is currently undergoing some capital renovations this summer including, replacing boilers to be high efficient, air conditioning in the child care room, window replacements, new interior lighting to be LED with occupancy sensors, and exterior door replacement and upgrades to the front entrance that will improve accessibility and curb appeal.

Williamstown Public School has approximately 360 students and offers both English and French Immersion programming.
