Westminster Public School Receives Funding for Expansion Project

July 24, 2020 (Brockville) – The Upper Canada District School Board is proud to share that it has received approval and funding from the Ministry of Education for the expansion and retrofit project at Westminster Public School in Brockville.

The $3.2 million project will include a new gym, a retrofit of the current gym and the creation of two new child care rooms. There will be an increase of 25 new licensed child care spaces at the school.

This project is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces. This project will now move into the design phase.

“This capital announcement is not only a solid and needed economic investment in this community, but also a commitment to public education and a real support for our parents, our students and the quality of learning and teaching at Westminster Public School, said Chair John McAllister.

“The funding for the addition and child care centre retrofit to Westminster Public School is great news for our community and something I know students, school staff and parents have been waiting to hear,” said Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. “I’m pleased to make this announcement because I know this investment by our government is going to provide a quality learning environment and new opportunities for the children of Brockville.”

“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of the addition and child care retrofit to the Westminster Public School further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”

Westminster Public School has approximately 425 students and offers both English and French Immersion programming.
