Full details on presentations, reports and discussions can be found in the agenda or reviewed in the recorded broadcast.

June 12, 2020 (Brockville, ON) – Trustees with the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) met on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 for a Special Board of Trustees meeting. Trustees and senior staff joined the meeting by teleconference to ensure physical distancing, however the meeting was broadcasted live. Trustees discussed two agenda items:

2020-2021 Budget Priorities:

Staff provided trustees with options for consideration, along with associated expenses, for two budget priorities: a staffing model that includes Health and Physical Education (HPE) Specialists and the Power Up Program (PUP) pilot program.

Given current uncertainties for the upcoming school year due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, trustees voted to table the discussion regarding the proposed HPE Specialist model until next June for possible inclusion in the 2021-2022 budget deliberations.

The PUP pilot has been operating in UCDSB schools this school year. Thirteen schools offered PUP 1 and four offered PUP 2. UCDSB staff recommended a gradual increase of the pilot project with five additional schools offering PUP 1 and an additional two schools offering PUP 2. Trustees also voted to move this item to next June for possible inclusion in 2021-2022 budget deliberations.

Review of Leadership Performance Review Handbook:

Chair of the Board John McAllister presented on the review of the Leadership Performance Review Handbook for the Evaluation of the Director’s Performance Appraisal (Policy 1001). Trustees will provide additional direction and guidance to Boyden Canada, the third-party company hired to complete a revised draft of the Leadership Performance Review Handbook.
