Board of Trustees

January 10, 2020 (Brockville, ON) – Trustees with the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) met on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 for their regular Board meeting. They discussed several agenda items:

Board Honoured by Canadian Forces Liaison Council
Chief Warrant Officer Jim McKenzie, of the
Canadian Forces Liaison Council, presented the board with a certificate recognizing its longstanding support of the Reserves, chiefly through the Cadet Co-operative Education Program. The two-credit program offers cadet training courses and is available to all Ontario students through the UCDSB Summer Semester Program. In the summer of 2019, 182 students achieved a total of 363 credits. McKenzie was joined in the presentation by Major Sandy McDonald, of the Canadian Armed Forces Cadet Program, who is a teacher in the Cadet Co-operative Education Program.

PRO Grant Disbursement Process
Trustees voted to disburse this year’s Parents Reaching Out Grant funding equally to all UCDSB school councils to support projects that encourage parent engagement, such as literacy nights and parent conferences. Previously, funding disbursements were done through applications to the province but this school year the province transferred responsibility for the program to school boards. Trustees opted for this method for this year as a quicker way to get funding to school councils. The total grant funding this year is $16,423.
