Tops the Field in EOSSAA Golf Championships

(Almonte) – A student from Carleton Place High School was the top female golfer Wednesday, September 28 at the 2016 Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) Golf Championships, held at the Mississippi Golf Club in Almonte.

Grade 12 student Chloe Wilson shot an 80 to take the girls’ title. Sarah Cushing, a Grade 12 student from Brockville Collegiate Institute(BCI), came in second with 81.

Scott Jensen from Carleton Place High School was the top individual male golfer from the Upper Canada District School Board. The Grade 12 student shot a 71 to take the silver medal.  Wilson, Cushing, Jensen and BCI Grade 11 student Alexandria Peacock, who shot a 101, all qualify for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships later this month.

The OFSAA Boys’ Golf Championship will take place October 11-13 in Port Elgin, while the OFSAA Girls’ Golf Festival will happen October 12-13 in Windsor.
