Carleton Place High School Bears Win
EOSSAA Senior Girls’ A Volleyball Title
March 1, 2017 (Carleton Place, ON) – The Upper Canada District School Board is proud to announce that the Carleton Place High School Bears recently won the EOSSAA Senior Girls’ A Volleyball Championship in Kemptville.
The Bears defeated École secondaire catholique Le Relais in two straight sets 25-20 and 25-17 to take the final, played at St. Michael’s Catholic High School on February 23rd, 2017.
“They were definitely the strongest hitting team at the tournament,” said Coach Jamie Bell of reasons for the victory. “The girls did a great job at the net blocking and picking up tips as well, and their defence was unbeatable. Their hard work and dedication really paid off.”
A strong performance by setter Abby Camelon also helped carry the team to victory.
The win qualified the Bears to compete at OFSAA in Welland March 5th -8th, 2017.
