Hundreds of Intermediate Athletes Competed Monday at 2017 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship
June 14, 2017 (Brockville, ON) – Six hundred intermediate athletes from twenty-five schools competed Monday at the 2017 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship, held at Thousand Islands Secondary School.
Students participated after qualifying for the meet at several regional events as part of the Upper Canada Cup athletic series, designed to provide additional athletic opportunities for students within our Board.
Individual gold-medal performances by athletes that stood out at the championship included:
Madison Armitage, Carleton Place High School: Junior Girls’ 100 Metre, 13.79; Junior Girls’ 200 Metre, 28.88
Tieghan Wallace, Thousand Islands Secondary School: Senior Girls’ 200 Metre, gold, 28.16; Senior Girls’ 400 Metre, gold, 1:03.69; Senior Girls’ Triple Jump, gold, 10.13 metres
Lilly Jackson, Carleton Place High School: Senior Girls’ 100 Metre, 13.43; Senior Girls’ Long Jump, 4.52 metres
Joshua Muoka, Chimo Elementary School: Junior Boys’ Shot Put, 11:46 metres
