Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute
After Safety Concern Prompts Police Investigation
January 25, 2017 (Vankleek Hill, ON) – Students have returned to Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) this morning following a police investigation at the school. All students and staff remain safe and were returned to VCI as of 9:30 a.m. this morning.
Police requested that VCI buses be redirected early this morning due to a safety concern identified and reported to police. All VCI students were redirected to Pleasant Corners Public School (PCPS) including those who walk to the school.
At 8:35 a.m., police informed administrators with the Upper Canada District School Board that it was safe for staff and students to return to VCI.
Counselling has been made available at the school for staff and students who may require support.
Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute and the Upper Canada District School Board are cooperating with Ontario Provincial Police who are continuing their investigation into this matter.
