Upper Canada District School Board to Celebrate
2017 Education Week

 

April 28, 2017 (Brockville, ON) – Schools across the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) will celebrate Education Week May 1-5, 2017. This year’s theme is Ontario’s 150th anniversary and UCDSB schools are proud to celebrate this milestone in our history through many educational events.

UCDSB schools are observing the week with a range of events from spring concerts to volunteer appreciation ceremonies. To highlight some of the upcoming events, programming for the week includes:

·  Roxmore Public School:

o   Wellness Wednesdays kick-off: May 3

o   Character Assembly and 2017 Jump Rope for Heart Campaign kick-off: May 4

o   3rd Annual Volunteer and Bus Driver Appreciation Luncheon and Awards Presentation: May 5

·   Linklater Public School:

o   Canada 150 Celebration of the Arts Assembly: May 2

o   Local author presentation: May 5

o   Student participation in the Gananoque Writer’s Festival

·   Athens District High School:

o   ADHS band visits Pineview Public School and Meadowview Public School to celebrate Music Monday: May 1

o   Jack.org presentation: May 4

·   Nationview Public School:

o   Canadian Art Workshops: May 1 & 4

o   Volunteer Social: May 3

·   Vanier Public School: Music Monday performance: May 1

·   South Branch Elementary School: Canada 150 Spring Concerts: May 4

·   Caldwell Street Public School: Canada 150 event - Canadian Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony and artistic displays celebrating Ontario: May 4

·   Smiths Falls and District Collegiate Institute: Continuation of Restless RedHawk Café program with a performance by Fireweed

·   Centennial ’67 Public School:

o   Luncheon and Volunteer Appreciation Assembly: May 1

o   Visit to Brockville Arts Centre to experience a performance of the play Pig Mania: May 3

·   South Grenville District High School: Daily activities to celebrate Mental Health Week

·   Glen Tay Public School:

o   Collaborative Math Lesson: May 4

o   Volunteer Recognition Social: May 5

o   “Find Your Magic” Bully Awareness Show: May 5

o   “Shine Green for Mental Health” campaign

·   Benson Public School: Canada 150 celebration of Canadian art and musical/drama workshops: May 5

·   Williamstown Public School:

o   Energy Cubes – Get Up and Move kick-off: May 1

o   World Colouring Day event: May 5

·   Sweet’s Corners Elementary School:  Volunteer luncheon: May 5

·   Rideau Vista Public School:

o   Video montage of students for posting on Facebook

o   Daily “Math in Action” events

o   Welcome to Kindergarten event: May 2
