Glen Tay Public School Wins $5,000 Worth of Prizes through Newell Rubbermaid Office Products

(Perth) – Glen Tay Public School has been the recipient of $5,000 worth of prizes through a Newell Rubbermaid Office Products contest, all thanks to someone from a nearby community that had no prior connection with the school.

Principal Eric Hardie said that a woman named Dale Poulter – a retired teacher from Ottawa – entered the contest through Staples Business Depot earlier this school year. On the ballot, she was required to include personal information, as well as the name of a school.

Poulter and her husband have a cottage on Pike Lake, and are involved with the Pike Lake Community Association, which brings them to the Tay Valley Township office next door on a regular basis.

Having driven by Glen Tay on numerous occasions, Poulter decided to enter the school’s name.

“Dale won the national grand prize,” said Hardie. “She won a laptop, backpack, and other great items, and we won $5,000 worth of prizes from Newell Rubbermaid which include brands such as Sharpie, Paper Mate, Uniball, Liquid Paper and Expo, to name a few.”

Poulter visited the school today to surprise the students with the prizes.

“The timing was perfect,” said Hardie. “Our Terrific Kids Assembly today was about the trait of empathy. The grade 2 students made a presentation about random acts of kindness, and this was the perfect example. Mrs. Poulter was Glen Tay’s Santa Claus this year.”
