African Drumming at Montague Public School

(Pictured above: Montague Public School teachers Virginia Vibert and Shelley Dalgleish invited local drumming guru Leo Brooks to the school last week to build Jembe drums with the students in grades 5/6. The drums are made out of sona tubes and goat skins flown in from Pakistan. Once constructed, students learned various rhythmic patterns, and will continue to use the drums during their music classes and drum ensemble.)
(Pictured above: Grade 5 student Cailyn Meldrum (left) and grade 6 students Kiara Warwick and Spencer Boisvenue painted their Jembe drums.) Submitted photos.
