Power Restored at Toniata Public School

(Brockville) – Hydro has been restored at Toniata Public School this morning after nasty winter weather resulted in a power outage at the school.

Power was restored by Ontario Hydro crews at about 9:50 a.m., said Superintendent David Coombs. The Upper Canada District School Board had a generator on standby to provide power if crews had been unable to restore regular connections.

Coombs said the students remained safe in their classes and continued their work. The design of the school’s classrooms allows a large amount of natural light into the classrooms. The school is on City of Brockville water service and toilets and taps were functioning for the students.

Power was knocked out overnight during the winter storm that hit the area.
