Back to School Update

Dear UCDSB Parents and Guardians,

We are just a week away from welcoming students back to school and we are excited for their return. There has been lots of work happening behind the scenes within our school district and with our public health units to make sure the return to school is a safe one.

Earlier this week we received the Parent Screening Tool from our local health units. Public health recommends that screening be completed each day before children leave for school.
The purpose of this screening tool is to help parents and guardians make decisions about whether or not their children can attend school.

No personal information is requested when using the tool, which means that you and your child cannot be personally identified or linked to your responses. Using this tool is voluntary. Public health recommends that you contact a healthcare provider if you have questions about your child’s health.

We’ve also just produced a video of what our schools will look like when students return, highlighting some of the new routines they can expect. We hope you and your family find it helpful and informative.

Additionally, we have revised our Return to School Guide, as of September 1, and there is now more information in these key areas:

I know that families in the UCDSB are doing everything they can to get ready for the new school year. We are too, and you can trust that all of our staff will do their utmost to make this a successful year of learning.

I hope you have a wonderful long weekend and make the most of what’s left of the summer of 2020.

Sincerely,
Stephen Sliwa
