Drummond Central School and Algonquin College Partner to Create Outdoor Education Space

May 30, 2019 (Perth, ON) - On June 4, Algonquin College, the Upper Canada District School Board and donor partners (including TD Canada Trust, Perth Rotary club, and Hay Designs) will be in attendance at Drummond Central School along with students, faculty and friends to begin phase 1 of a multi-phase outdoor space project.

Drummond Central School’s faculty, staff, students, parents, and community have a shared vision of creating an outdoor learning environment for students. The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma Program at the Algonquin College Perth Campus shares this vision. The project will provide an outdoor learning environment for students and the creation of it aligns with evidence-based learning, provide hands-on experiences using agriculture, the environment and play-based learning. All of these learning opportunities will continue once the space is complete as well.

 

Over 300 different plants, trees, and shrubs be planted at the school as it works its way toward a final vision of outdoor education.
