2018 UC Cup Track and Field Results
Hundreds of Intermediate Athletes Competed Wednesday at 2018 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship

June 14, 2018 (Brockville, ON) – Approximately 700 intermediate athletes from 40 schools competed Wednesday at the 2018 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship, held at Thousand Islands Secondary School. Students participated after qualifying for the meet at several regional events as part of the Upper Canada Cup athletic series, designed to provide additional athletic opportunities for students within our board.

Winners of team championship banners included:

Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ champions, Grade 7 boys’ champions, grand aggregate track and field champions, Grade 8 girls’ co-champions (tied with Carleton Place High School)

Carleton Place High School: Grade 8 boys’ champions, Grade 8 girls’ co-champions (tied with Thousand Islands Secondary School)

Individual gold-medal performances at the championship included:

  • Hailey Blanchard, Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ 100-metre dash, gold, 14.09; Grade 7 girls’ 200-metre dash, gold, 28.66; Grade 7 girls’ 400-metre run, gold, 1:05.53; Grade 7 girls’ 4-by-100 relay, gold, 56.45; girls’ open 4-by-400 Relay, gold, 4:39.71
  • Lily-May Berriman, Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ 800-metre run, gold, 2:43.59
  • Maddie Seaby, Carleton Place High School: Grade 7 girls’ 1,500-metre run, gold, 5:31.93
  • Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ 4-by-100 relay, gold, 56.45
  • Ava Greaves, Thousand Island Secondary School: Grade 7 girls' long jump, gold, 4.83m; Grade 7 girls’ 4-by-100 relay, gold, 56.45. 
  • Christina Lafreniere, Perth and District Collegiate Institute: Grade 7 girls’ high jump, gold, 1.36 metres
  • Kendra McEwen, Chimo Elementary School: Grade 7 girls’ triple jump, gold, 9.08 metres
  • Olivia Mudde, Seaway District High School: Grade 8 girls’ long jump, gold, 4.54 metres
  • Madison Armitage, Carleton Place High School: Grade 8 girls’ 100-metre dash, gold, 13.41; Grade 8 girls’ 200-metre dash, gold, 28.13; Grade 8 girls’ 400-metre run, gold, 1:05.91
  • Jasmine Byrnes, Gananoque Secondary School: Grade 8 girls’ javelin, gold, 22.61 metres
  • Thousand Islands Secondary School: girls’ 4-by-400 open relay, gold, 4:39.71
  • Kendrick Franchi, Rockland District High School: Grade 7 boys’ 100-metre dash, gold, 13.41
  • Camden Ringer, Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 boys’ 400-metre run, gold, 1:00.96
  • Perth and District Collegiate Institute: Grade 7 boys’ 4 by 100 relay team, gold, 56.27
  • Teagan Williams, Russell High School: Grade 8 boys’ 100-metre dash, gold,12.50; Grade 8 boys’ 200- metre dash, gold, 25.71
  • Jack Link, North Dundas District High School: Grade 8 boys’ 800-metre run, gold, 2.21.65
  • Jacob Hill, Russell High School: Grade 8 boys’ 1,500 metre run, gold, 4:44:31
  • Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 8 boys’ 4-by-100 relay, gold, 52.67
