UCDSB to Host Truth and Reconciliation Commission +4 Gathering in Russell & Kemptville

May 2, 2019 (Upper Canada, ON) - The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is hosting a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) +4 Gathering feast at Russell High School on Monday, May 6 and at Kemptville Public School on Wednesday, May 8.

The feast is part of the district’s annual TRC+4 Gathering for Reflection and Renewal event that takes place over four days at multiple locations across the district to accommodate students from a large number of our elementary schools.

These events are part of the school board’s efforts to respond to the Calls to Action issued by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada in 2015, which identified “sustained public education and dialogue, including youth engagement” as the way to move forward beyond the sad national legacy of federal residential schools and its impact on Indigenous people in Canada.

The public and media are welcome to attend the evening feast at Russell High School and Kemptville Public School. Traditional Indigenous foods will be served at this event.

Details of the events are as follows:

Monday, May 6, 2019
5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Russell High School Cafeteria,
982 North Russell Road

Wednesday, May 8, 2019
