Senior Team Places Second in Their Event
June 8, 2018 (Alexandria, ON) – The Glengarry District High School (GDHS) team won the 2018 EOSSAA Boys’ Junior A Soccer Championship recently, while the senior team earned silver in their event.
The junior boys beat St. Joseph’s High School of Renfrew 1-0 on May 29th to win the title. In the senior game, held the same day, GDHS lost 3-1 to Mackenzie Community School of Deep River. Both tournaments were hosted at Char-Lan District High School. in Williamstown.
GDHS Junior Coach Anne MacDonald said solid defending by her team, plus great goalkeeping, helped in their victory.
“They won by capitalizing on their chances, sticking to their game plan and giving 110 per cent effort,” said MacDonald of her team.
Senior Coach Glen Campbell was proud of his boys.
“I felt both teams played good, hard-nosed soccer,” he said. “But Mackenzie was able to capitalize on opportunities and we didn’t.”
