Transportation FAQs
Is eligibility for one school or another based on my home address?
Transportation to a particular school is based on the “pick-up” address which could be a home address or a regular alternate address such as a day care provider.
Will transportation be available to Early French Immersion sites?
All Immersion students will be transported, according to the current Board’s Student Transportation policy.
If your child lives in the boundary of his/her home school, then you will be provided transportation to the designated French Immersion site. Those within walking distance of the French Immersion site will continue to walk.
How are grandfathered transportation requests being accommodated for students impacted by Building 2020 boundary changes?
The Board is prepared to accommodate requests for grandfathered transportation under the following conditions:
- grandfathered transportation will continue for all students wishing to remain at their current school up until their first point of transition,
- at their first point of transition (eg. moving from a K-6 school to a 7-12 school), students will receive transportation based upon Building 2020 school boundaries,
- younger siblings can also receive grandfathered transportation if an older brother or sister is at the school effective their first year of entry into the grandfathered school,
- this special arrangement only applies for students remaining at their current school. Grandfathered transportation will NOT be provided for students who change schools for program reasons or due to a new residential address.
