V.C.I. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Drop Everything An Read (D.E.A.R.)  - Daily from 9:30-9:45

ADMINISTRATION:

-          On Wed. May 23rd, at lunch in the front foyer the SD&G Highlanders will have a recruiting table set up in the front foyer.

STUDENT SERVICES:

-          Attention all students doing on-line elearning courses.  All work MUST be completed before June 1st.  There are NO extensions!!! 

-          If you are interested in summer School co-op, during the month of July, applications are now being accepted in Student Services.  (T. Whinfield)

-          A list of community involvement opportunities in our community from now until December is now available at Student Services.  Please see Mrs. Gratton for a copy.

-          Algonquin and St. Lawrence Colleges are offering bursaries to students who have (or will) complete a Dual Credit course at this institution.  Application forms and information are available in Student Services. 

-          Will you be the first person in your family to attend a post-secondary institution?  If so, you could apply for a $2,000 bursary.  Information  is available in Student Services.

SPORTS: - Girls Rugby team excused TODAY at 10:15 to  play at St. Thomas Aquinas (W. Lee)

GRADUATES 2012:  

-          Graduates – The June 14th deadline for the return of the Commencement Ceremony Info documents will be strictly adhered to – Please return your yellow Attendance Registration, Blue General Bursaries Application & $10 Grad Fee to the General Office.

-          Grads are asked to drop off at the General Office, by May 23rd,  a photo of themselves during their school career (JK-12).  These will be used  in a slideshow for the Commencement ceremony.

MUSIC  DEPT.:

-          The VCI Music Dept is hosting a final tribute concert/show in honour of Mr. Banhardt.  This promises to be the “hottest” ticket for the month of May.  On Sale at lunch in the lobby are advanced tickets of $5.0 each for this Thursday, May 31st 7:00  p.m. show.  This will not be your average concert band night.  Come out to witness Bandman’s Musical Magic a fun night of variety and entertainment.

COMMITTEES:

-          VCI RELAY FOR LIFE Fri. May 25th 7 p.m to Sat. May 26th 7 a.m.

-         A penny drive will take place this week May 14-18th during Period A.  The class with the most $ collected will get a meal from the foods room and be able to wear their hats for a day!!!  All monies collected go towards the UCDSB Champions for Kids Foundation.

-         Students who wish to take part in a discussion at lunch today regarding a survey done by some senior students at VCI can meet in the courtyard at lunch time.

COMMUNITY:

-         Community Involvement Hours available as volunteers are needed for set up and tear down, both days of the Vankleek Hill May Show Festival being held the Victoria Day weekend on Saturday, May 19th and Sunday, May 20th .  Shifts are 7 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.   You must register in Student Services, ASAP  if you are interested.
