Diploma RequirementsÂ
FOR STUDENTS WHO ENROLLED IN GRADE 9 IN ONTARIO PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 1999 UNDER OS:IS REQUIREMENTS
AN ONTARIO SECONDARY SCHOOL DIPLOMA will be granted to a student who earns a minimum of 30 credits of 110 hours each.
These courses consist of:
Compulsory credits (Total of 16)
5 ENGLISH (including at least 2 from the Senior Division)
1 FRENCH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
2 MATHEMATICS
2 SCIENCE
1 CANADIAN GEOGRAPHY
1 CANADIAN HISTORY
1 additional credit in the SOCIAL SCIENCES (Senior Division)
1 ARTS
1 PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION
1 BUSINESS STUDIES or TECHNOLOGICAL STUDIES
And
Optional credits (total of 14)
Mature students aged 18 years and older may be eligible for maturity credits or may elect to participate in the PLAR process. Speak to your counselor or teacher for clarification.
Some adult learners may be eligible for the Secondary School Graduation diploma (SSGD). If you were enrolled in an Ontario secondary school between the years of 1970 to 1984 you may wish to discuss your diploma requirements with your counselor or teacher.
