OSAID Club
The OSAID Club has been very active in the school and the Brockville community promoting awareness of the dangers of driving while impaired or distracted. Members participated in the yearly National Students Against Impaired and Distracted Driving Day in October staging a mock crash scene at the front of the school. This day culminated with the annual White Out campaign in which students paint their faces white, dress in black and refrain from talking for the rest of the school day. These members represented the number of people that die every day from impaired or distracted driving even in our own community.
OSAID members also held an awareness week that helped them achieve their goal of reducing and eliminating alcohol and drug related injury and death. Activities included: drunk and impaired driving simulation games, BYOB (Bring Your Own Bun) hotdog sale, a seatbelt count challenge and a MADD Canada screening of the show “Wasted.”
