Co-operative Education
Coop Students will apply to enroll in a Cooperative Education program by completing an application form during the course selection process. Students are encouraged to plan ahead and consider the area of study in which they would like work experience. It is strongly recommended that students take related courses prior to enrolling in this program. Taking Cooperative Education in their final year, allows students to gain valuable work experience prior to entering college, university, an apprenticeship program, or the world of work. A $20 materials and resources fee (to cover the cost of materials and an appreciation banquet at the conclusion of the semester) will be collected. For more information, see your Guidance counsellor.
Military Coop (offered second semester only) Military coop is a joint project between the UCDSB and the Brockville Rifles. Students are given the opportunity to earn 4 high school credits while completing the first 2 parts of their military training. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age with a minimum of 15 high school credits on their transcript. Students must apply early in the year and meet the military entry requirements which consist of an aptitude test, an interview, a medical exam and a physical fitness test. Students will spend most of their time at the Brockville Armories and they will be paid for time spent in uniform. For more information, please contact your guidance counsellor or one of the cooperative education teachers.

Triple Play/ Dual Credits Grade 12 students have the opportunity to register in part-time studies at St. Lawrence College (SLC), Brockville Campus, for one course beginning in January 2009. Most students will take this course in conjunction with their high school Cooperative Education program, so as not to miss their secondary school classes (while attending their college course). The hours at St. Lawrence College taking the college course do not count as co-op hours. Students must complete the required number of co-op hours in order to earn their co-op credit(s). Upon successful completion of the St. Lawrence College course, students will be granted a college credit and a Ministry-assigned secondary school dual credit. On the successful completion of the work experience portion of the co-op program, students will earn Cooperative Education credits based on the number of hours completed. For more information about dual credit opportunities and courses being offered at the college contact your guidance counsellor.
