OVERALL GOALS AND PHILOSOPHY
The Ontario Secondary School Program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills they will need to become independent, productive, and responsible members of society. South Grenville has a long and proud tradition of excellence, achievement, and service in Prescott and the surrounding area. Over the years, the school has evolved and been refurbished to meet the needs of all our students, regardless of their post-secondary ambitions, abilities and interests. Our staff and the programs we offer are dedicated to the development of the total student: intellectually, socially, physically, and emotionally. We seek to foster the self-esteem of each individual in an atmosphere of respect, tolerance and understanding. At the same time, we promote a high standard of achievement that provides our students with the learning opportunities and support they need to be successful, whether they enter the work force or go on to post-secondary education.
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this course calendar is to provide information to students and parents on school organization, programs, and services. Students and their parents should read the contents carefully, seek advice if needed and plan wisely so that their year at South Grenville will be a productive and rewarding year. Courses are scheduled according to the number of students who have selected them. It is important for students to make informed, FINAL decisions, using all the available information. When students choose a program of studies, it is considered a contract that should not be broken. We do not want to deny students entry into a class that has students who will eventually decide that they should not have signed up for that course. Parents and students are invited to talk to the Counsellors in Student Services if there are any questions about the course selection process and/or if more details are required about specific courses.
