POW Clubs
There are some of fun and exciting clubs offered for students during the school year at Prince of Wales. In any given year, some clubs may not run, while new ones are offered. Below is a list of the clubs students can participate in at POW:
Cartooning Club
The Cartooning Club members meet once a week to practice their drawing skill.
Chess Club
Members meet once a week to play and Grade 7 & 8 tournaments participate in a school chess tournament. The top three winners from the school tournament compete in the mall tournament against other schools.
Computer Club
Students meet each week to work on projects like this website or slide show presentations.
Recycling Club
Students are responsible for picking up recycling twice a week in every classroom.
Highland Dance
Primary students learn a variety of different folk dances. Sometimes they perform in front of large and small groups.
Library Club
Students help put books away, create bulletin boards, label new books, and scan books for circulation. They also help with book fairs and fundraising.
Woodcarving Club
Students meet once a week to work on carving projects. A special thanks to Mr. Downie for volunteering his time and expertise.
Yearbook Club
Students use the digital camera to take pictures throughout the year. They use the pictures to create the pages for the yearbook.
5 Km Club
Intermediate students getting ready for the Y.M.C.A.’s 5km California run held in early May. The students are also training for track and field season.
The Gardening Club
The gardening club is comprised of Intermediate students who have shown an interest in creating and maintaining the flower beds and green areas of the school.
Peer Tutoring Club
Students from Grade 6 -8 provide tutoring support for students in Grade K – 5.
