It is important to read the Yes and Nos of Community Service. We have many students trying to hand in community service hours for helping out their families e.g. doing yard work, washing dishes, walking the dog, house sitting, etc. This is a NO, as you are expected to help out your family.  Please do not do filing, reception, fence mending, etc. unless the organization you are working for is a not for profit organization.  If you are unsure please call the school or bring the form in for approval prior to doing the activity.

Community Service Yes and Nos.pdf

Students who were in grade 8 the past school year and who are going into grade 9 in September can work on getting Community Service hours over the summer. Each year many students do not graduate because they fail to complete the 40 hours required to obtain a Ontario Secondary School Diploma. It is a good idea to start getting your hours as soon as you can because as you get into the higher grades workloads increase and many students start to get jobs making it harder to get the hours.
