WELCOME TO THE RED ZONE!

Principal's Message - S. Sharp

Welcome to the website of North Grenville District High School in Kemptville, Ontario - Home of the Knights! NGDHS is located in Old Town Kemptville on historic Prescott Street and has been serving the growing community of Kemptville and the surrounding area in the northern region of Grenville County since 1936! NGDHS is home to approximately 500 students from grades 9 to 12, and is a comprehensive high school offering courses in core subjects but also in Art, Music, Drama, Adventure Leadership, Comm Tech, Auto and Woodworking. Classes start at 8:05 and run on a five period MSIP schedule until 2:10.

As a teaching staff, we strive to provide our students with diverse learning opportunities with the primary goal of preparing them for college and higher education should they so choose. To this end, we offer educational pathways for essential learning, college preparation and university preparation.

As a reflection of the Upper Canada District School Board’s Strategic Plan, we have implemented an intervention strategy to get 90% of our students to graduate with their peers and 75% of the students will be at level 3 or 4 in their courses by the year 2020. In order to achieve such a goal we are constantly improving our delivery model based on several core beliefs. We believe that improving the quality of instruction will result in improved student learning. We believe increasing the quality of instruction is grounded in understanding and building capacity around purpose, rigour, engagement and results. We believe every adult must be continually learning and improving his/her professional practices

Students at North Grenville District High School excel in National academic competitions, acceptance to university and college programs, as well as extra curricular activities such as Athletics, Drama, and Music.

We are very excited about moving to our new facility in September 2012.  The new school will be located on Concession Road in Kemptville, just down the road from the Kemptville Hospital and South Branch Elementary School. Our new school will open with a Grade 7 -12 arrangement for the 2012-13 school year.

NGDHS continually strives to build upon our past success and to assist our students in meeting the academic, social and emotional challenges as they prepare for graduation. We are pleased about your interest in North Grenville District High School, and invite you to become a part of our school community.

Sincerely,

S.R. Sharp- Principal
