Track and Field

The NDIS Track and Field team will be training for their events every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30-4:00. We are preparing for competitions and so good attendance is mandatory. If for any reason your son or daughter cannot attend every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday they need to inform either one of the coaches - Mrs. Cloutier or Ms. VanderMeer. Please note that there is now a late bus for students involved in extra-curricular activities. It leaves the school at approximately 4:20 and stops in both Winchester and Chesterville. For specific information about the late bus, or any other questions please contact us.

Track and Field Permission form for after school practices:  Permission Form

Transportation: Who needs to know

Any student who is not taking the bus after school needs to bring a note (or a note in their agenda) stating who is picking the child up.  Students will bring the notes to the office to be added to the daily alternate arrangements list.  At the end of the day, students will meet their rides at the main doors.  If students do not have a note, they will not be able to stay unless arrangements have been made by phone before 1:30 PM.

Students are assigned one seat on one bus.  For safety reasons, students are not permitted to ride other students busses unless it is a short term arrangement which must be made with the office prior to the day required.

If older siblings are driving younger siblings, please provide us with a note indicating that you are aware of this arrangement.

Enviro Club's "Reading Recycled" Book Sale

Spring cleaning? Why not donate all those gently-used books that were read over the winter months and make way for new summer reading. The Enviro Club will be hosting a gently-used book sale in May. Donations of books for all ages can be dropped off at the main office or Intermediate Student Support Room. Money raised will be donated to the Champions For Kids Foundation.

NDIS WELCOMES NEW GRADE 6 STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

On Wednesday February 15th, we welcomed Grade 6 students and their families from local elementary schools into our building.  Families were shown a slide presentation of A Day in the Life Of an NDIS student and learned about the program choices available to our students.  All families were taken on a tour of the building and given the chance to register their students for extended French programming for next September.  If you know of a family who missed this open house and is interested in having their child come to NDIS from any of our local schools, please have them contact Mrs. Banks at 613-448-2328.

Parents of students in Grade 6 wishing to enroll their child into the Extended French program (1/2 day in French) for September 2012 can go to the board website at www.ucdsb.on.ca and click on the link to “It’s time to pre-register for Kindergarten and French Programs” and select the online form for Grade 7 Entry to French programs.  The registration is very brief and is in the form of a survey.  If you need assistance, please contact Mrs. Banks at 613-448-2328.

Homework Support

We will be starting a homework support room a few days each week from 11:05 to 11:45 to provide students with a place to complete homework.  Students can use this support to complete homework if they know they have activities on in the evening or if they have missed class time and need to get caught up.  Students can eat their lunch and complete their work in the homework room.
