Welcome to the

North Dundas District High School

Learning Commons

Open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

7:45 – 3:15

Learning Commons Informationist: Mrs Rice

General Information:

The Learning Commons is an area in the school where students can sign out library books, read, study, access computers and participate in class work and discussions. You are asked to be respectful of all students and keep noise levels at a reasonable volume.

Students may sign out books for a period of two weeks.  Books may be renewed as often as necessary.  Overdue fines are 10¢ per day.  A book donation may be made in lieu of payment of an overdue fine as long as it is in good condition. Please remember that all books signed out under a student's name will remain on their UCDSB library record until the books are either returned or overdue fines have been cleared.

Food and drinks are not permitted around the computers. If you wish to work in the Learning Commons during lunch, please eat your lunch before you come in. Please use the recycle bins beside the door.

Printing and Projects:

The Learning Commons has a printer available to staff and students. Students can print or photocopy in black or white or colour and can also scan pages or documents to save to their student accounts. It can create pamphlets, mini posters and double sided documents. Fees must be paid for right away – we do not put printing fees on your library account.

Black & white printing or photocopying: 10¢ per page

Double sided: 15¢ per page

Colour printing or photocopying: 30¢ per page

Bristol board is available for 50¢

We also have project kits available containing a glue stick, scissors, tape, ruler, markers and pencil crayons.
