Principal's Message

Welcome to Gananoque Secondary School Our School of Character and the "Home of the Trojans". You are now a member of the G.S.S. team. Being part of a team implies that we take care of each other, and do what is necessary to ensure the well-being of all members. Therefore, the staff and I are committed to ensuring your success, and making Gananoque Secondary School a great place to learn and work.

You too are integral to your own personal success and that of Gananoque Secondary School as a whole. By embodying the virtues of Character as defined below you will guarantee our collective success.

Respect is . . . honouring differences, caring for your self and for others.

Responsibility is . . . leading the way, helping to accomplish tasks through initiative and hard work.

Honesty is . . . speaking and doing what you believe is right, no matter what the consequences; demonstrating integrity, truthfulness, sincerity.

Caring is . . . showing concern and interest in others and yourself; feeling and exhibiting concern and empathy for others.

Fairness is . . . being open-minded, taking turns and trusting others; being free of favouritism or bias; impartial.

Empathy is . . . the ability to understand what another person is feeling; to show understanding and express it.

Perseverance is . . . having the courage and the strength to never give up; to adhere to a course of action, belief or purpose.

Resiliency is . . . having a positive attitude and an inner strength to bounce back from a tough time; to recover quickly from an illness, change or misfortune.

In addition by:

attending classes every day
being punctual for all classes and school activities
developing good work habits and effective study skills
acting responsibly at all times
getting involved in your school through extra-curricular activities you will enjoy all that G.S.S. has to offer.
Together we will make the 2009-2010 school year our best year ever and Gananoque Secondary School a school by which all others are compared.
