Gananoque Secondary School: The Gateway to Your Future!

Gananoque Secondary School is a public, coeducational high school of approximately 525 students located in Gananoque, a town of 5,000, which relies on tourism as its primary business. Located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the 1000 Islands area, the school draws one-half of its students from the town itself and the rest from the surrounding rural area.

Educational programs at G.S.S. include academic, enriched, applied, locally developed, technical and advanced placement courses. G.S.S. is one of only 26 schools across North America belonging to the Network of Complementary Schools. The school has been designated a “Canadian Academy of Travel and Tourism” and has a Hospitality training centre, with emphasis on the culinary arts. The high school has close ties with the local community through its Co-Operative Education programs in which students participate in internships, which earn them high school credits, as well as providing work experience in local businesses
